In 1994, a tornado demolished Goshen United Methodist Church in Piedmont, AL. Twenty people were killed in this horrific natural disaster, including men, women, and children. The memory of this event has haunted the members of Goshen United Methodist Church ever since. The people who lost loved ones or who experienced the traumatic event still grieve to this day.
This series is an ode to the ones lost that day. In the images, living family members of some of those lost are turned into ghosts through the process of double exposures. The setting for the series is at the memorial site set up where the old church once stood. The images are silver gelatin images created in the darkroom. My hope is that the images are a reminder to the remaining family members of the victims that their loved ones are not lost and they will see them again someday.
